Blogging from the Big House

Or, at least, maybe I should be; because I think I might officially be a thief. I’ve totally stolen ideas from other bloggers for things to write about. I’m not sure what the legal repercussions for this type of thievery are, but the enormous monster-sized  little “thinker too mucher” thing that lives in my AMYgdala*, is concerned it may be THIS:

Jail

The thinkertoomucher thing located deep within my medial temporal lobes is concerned that I may face severe repercussions for snatching the the brilliant writing ideas of other bloggers. There must be some sort of psychological disorder name for this. P.S., I stole this Monopoly Jail picture, too.

*NOTE- I have seized this opportunity to incorporate my “AMYgdala” joke into this postAnd, the AMYgdala joke, is totally original…really.

I read this awesome post from MissFourEyes. She wrote about how she would remember 2012. It gave me a new perspective on the New Year Holiday, so, I stole her idea and decided to write my own list of how I will remember 2012.

I will remember 2012 as:

  • The year I was laid off  as the marketing department for a Machinery Vibration Analysis company.  It turned out to be okay, because “Machinery Vibration Analysis” wasn’t really my thing. I’ve never really been into machinery, or vibration analysis.
  • The year I became part of a company that I love. 🙂 And, it has nothing to do with analyzing machinery vibration.
  • The year I learned photoshop.
  • The year I started volunteering for a non-profit organization that is important to me.
  • The year my nephew, Adam was born.
  • The year I discovered the benevolence of humankind when I accidentally made buddies with the neighbors because I locked myself, and the cat, out of the house whilst the stove was on “high”. P.S.  The neighbors are are awesome, and the credit card trick really does work.
  • The year I decided to adhere the the unspoken rules of being a BAD A*S.
  • The year I decided to become a vegetarian, but then botched it because I ate 3 hamburgers the following week.
  • The year I started this blog.

 2013 Will Be:

  •   The year I will give vegetarianism another go. This is probably not the year I will be able to claim a completely vegan diet since there was butter in the cookie dough, (the first thing I ate in 2013) but I’ll give regular vegetarianism another try…
  • The year I will write more blog posts to help me become a better writer.
  • The year I will read more books. Actually READ them, rather than just “listen” to audio version.
  • The year I stay out of the bloggy “Big House” by not snatching the brilliant writing ideas of other bloggers, and using blog name thingies, but instead, utilizing the creative genius that I like to pretend is housed in my head ( but really isn’t).
Monopoly Jail

This jail picture is stolen, too.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU! 🙂

  1. Love the comment about vegetarianism. I was ALMOST sad when the semester was over. My twice weekly trips to In and Out had to end:( I will bail you out of jail:) Have a great 2013!

    • Thank you for offering to bail me out, Erin! I would be more than happy to bail you out of jail, ANYtime, too! 😀

I know what you mean…In & Out is delicious…and a stressful semester is definitely a good reason to go! A GREAT 2013 to you, too! I hope I get a chance to see you this year! 🙂

  2. I think that writing inspiration can come from anywhere, probably a lot of bloggers get their material from ideas that came into their heads when reading someone else’s work. All that matters is that you put it into your own style, which you do!

Your 2012 sounds awesome and I hope you have a great 2013! Also, working for a company you love has got to be wonderful. Are you one of those people who gets up in the morning and looks forward to work every day?? I hope so. I am definitely not like that every day, but there are several days where I look forward to work. Good feeling. Happy New Year!

  4. Interesting and entertaining post! I think most of us are thieves – we steal ideas from something we have read and add our personal views or experiences to make it our own. There’s nothing wrong with that! 🙂

  5. Now….. you really DO have good ideas in your head. You need to be remembering that as another thing to go on your “list” you should be writing!!
I think I got it from context, but fourth grade teachers don’t run into the word “milieu” too often. Where did you find that one???? Love ya now!

    • Thank you, Pen 🙂 I found the word “milieu” from reading! My mom was a 4th grade teacher, and she really emphasized the importance of reading to my brother and me!

  6. It’s okay to get ideas from posts by other bloggers. I have seen it so many times . Sparking an idea from another blogger then cultivating it as your own is A-okay in my law- book…you deserve a “Get outta jail card”

    • Hahaha! I feel better to have a partner in crime! 😀 Even though, I suppose getting inspiration from other bloggers isn’t really a crime 🙂 Here’s to a great 2013! 🙂
