When I was younger, I had dreams of traveling the wold and doing great things that would make the world a better place. Since I’ve become a stay-at-home mom with paralyzing student loan debt, I’ve channelled that energy into muffins; muffins and cookies, and most recently, bread. A couple of days ago a friend who is cleaning out her home before a move gave me a cake display dish. She knows I have a thing for making muffins. When I brought it home, something went haywire in my brain. I suspect I was possessed by the ghosts of cakes past. Whatever it was, I started to bake just so I could see things in it. I baked two loaves of bread, a dozen muffins, and 3 dozen cookies. There was no final destination for all these baked goods, but the urge to see them in the dish (and to eat cookie dough) was far to strong for me to resist.
Unfortunately, since there was no intended purpose for all the baked goods other than to see them in the dish, I had to eat a lot of them myself. This really put a damper on my low-carb summer diet plans. But, it’s okay, I justify my excessive consumption of carbs by reminding myself that I am training for a marathon. It’s actually only in my mind at this point, but it all begins with a single thought, right? And, I can assure you, the thought IS there.
If you are thinking that I need to get a life, you are absolutely right. I mean, who bakes a a crap-ton of stuff just to see it in a display dish, and then neglects to take pictures of it? Who does that!? Apparently, I do.
Just so I don’t leave you completely photo-less. Have a look at these other subpar iPhone photos of baked goods gone by.
I love reading your posts! Miss you!

I expect muffins AND bread when I get there. Bars and brownies and cake would be nice, too! 🙂

Muffins and bread will definitely be here! They have become part of my weekly rotation 🙂 I believe brownies can be worked in as well, but for a limited time only 😉

Welcome back, Amy! You’re bread look irresistable. I wish I was there to smell it because bread and cheese pretty much rule my life. Hopefully you can write more now? Or is it going to be less. I want to hear about this marathon you are running!
